Rising purification standards or increasing waste water load often make it necessary to upgrade or expand waste water treatment plants. Just by switching the existing aeration system to oxygen aeration, increased plant capacity and improved purification performance can be achieved, often making a costly extension unnecessary.

Oxygen aeration has the following advantages over conventional aeration:

•    Increased oxygen content dissolved in the aeration tank
•    Increased activity in the activated sludge
•    Fall in the sludge index
•    Increased biomass concentration in the aeration tank
•    Reduced sludge load

Depending on the requirements and waste water, single or multi-stage plants are used. The aerated process steps are supplied with oxygen generated on site. This increases the capacity of the plant significantly compared to conventionally aerated plants. Compared to using liquid oxygen, the oxygen generated on site is very cheap.
